Stop Digging Up the Seed

Halfway through the year. How are you really doing?

We are halfway through the year and this is usually the point where people begin questioning everything. For some, frustration begins to set in so much that they simply quit. Others start rewriting the game plan and digging up the seed they have been nurturing because they are not seeing results fast enough.

The question I have for you is this.

Day 1. Abrahamson Inc. My first office was in my backyard. This is where the journey began. 13 years ago.

You see, the journey is where all the lessons, memories, and enjoyment come from. The journey is where all the stories you will ever tell are being created. But you are so caught up with the end goal that you are missing it all.

So many people are so focused on growing the company, getting the bigger house, or hitting a career goal that they become blind to the most important gift.

I see parents miss out on their kids growing up. I see friendships being pushed aside because careers become more important. And when it is all said and done, and you are getting ready to take your last breath, you will realize that you missed out on what mattered most.

Your kids do not care about the bigger house.

True friends do not care how much money you have.

And if you think your calling is your career, well friends, you are headed for big disappointment.

I am not saying not to work hard or not to have goals. What I am saying is make sure you have balance. Always make sure your career, money, and possessions never become your why.

You have to keep these things in their place. They are there to serve you and not the other way around.

Remind yourself that the biggest impact you can ever have in this lifetime is what you pour into other people. It is what you poured into your kids. Nothing else matters if you failed to teach your kids how to love, care for others, and serve people well.

Just because you are halfway through the year and not where you thought you would be does not mean you are failing. Some things simply take a little longer. It does not mean you are doing something wrong.

You are in the middle of a great journey and growth is happening even when you do not see it.

You might have to make slight adjustments along the way, but the foundation that has been set, we do not mess with. Keep your why leading the way.

In business, are you continuing to invest in the development of your team? Are you speaking with clarity and expectation? As an owner, are you making sure you are balancing time at home and not giving your family leftovers?

Great leaders do not just lead their teams well. They lead their lives well.
